Southern Guitar Festival Gala

I spent much of this past Valentines weekend rehearsing and participating in the Southern Guitar Festival Gala. What a privilege to perform with some of the best musicians around! There were solo guitar performances by me, the festival director Marina Alexandra, Steve Sloan, and Brett Floyd. Duos by Duo de Vista (flute and guitar) and Craig Butterfield and Jesse Jones (double bass and mandolin). The concert began with the trio of Alan Knight, Jeff Harris, and Margaret Knight performing some latin songs. We closed the performance with my arrangement of the solo guitar piece Tango en Skai arranged for 3 guitars, flute, mandolin, and double bass. See and hear the video below. Yes it's not a common combination of instruments which made the arrangement challenging but really colorful! The musicians were such extraordinary performers that they had it sounding tight and musical in amazingly little time.
